Snorkelling is a wonderful activity to experience the feeling of plunging into another world beneath the waves.
It is the simplest form of diving activity, as, with very little equipment or previous training, it enables you to enjoy some incredible underwater experiences in some of the Costa Brava’s most enchanting spots, which, at this time of year, are teeming with life. And all with the support of professional guides who will teach you a lot in a short period of time, as well as ensuring your safety at all times.
Grab your wetsuit, fins, snorkel and mask, and off we go! Dive in to discover the incredible secret underwater world of the Medes Islands marine reserve, considered one of the best in Europe. Take a boat trip with the experts at the Estartit- Medes Islands Nautical Station or specialist company, Medaqua. And, once in the water, you will be treated to views of the great Neptune grass meadows, which make this place the perfect refuge for hundreds of species and their young, which are easy to spot from the surface waters, without having to dive down too deep.
Your guides will point out the wonders of the habitat that lies beneath these spectacular Costa Brava waters and you will come face to face with an array of fascinating species of fish that you would imagine only existed in distant oceans.
And you can rest easy because you will always be in safe hands, equipped with flotation devices and life-preservers and benefitting from the support and reassurance of your guides throughout the whole snorkelling experience, which lasts for about an hour.
Moving on to Cap de Creus, where SK Kayak have devised a unique experience that combines kayaking and snorkelling on the Costa Brava and a chance to discover the local Mediterranean marine flora and fauna with an accredited guide from Cap de Creus Natural Park.
This trip has the added draw of being able to enjoy paddling through the bay of Llançà in a double kayak and, at the end of that guided tour, you will take the plunge in the Cap Ras area for a snorkelling session on the rich seabed around Canyelles beach, which forms part of the Natura 2000 Network. A trained, qualified instructor will take care of all the organisation and assure the safety of the group in the water, as well as acting as your guide during the snorkelling session, helping you to identify the species you will find in this underwater paradise.
