Active tourism

Walk, ski, run, cycle, row, play, climb, sail, jump, fly and, above all, experience the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees while doing what you love most

There are few places in the world as versatile as the Girona province for engaging in sports and outdoor activities. With backdrops that are as stunning as they are diverse: the Mediterranean Sea, plains, forests, Pyrenean peaks, lakes and rivers. And all combined with a mild climate and pleasant temperatures that will allow you to fit in all the experiences you can imagine all year round.

Active tourism is to travel as you follow your passion. What’s yours? If it’s hiking or trail running, the coastal paths is just one of the emblematic routes the Costa Brava has to offer, along with trails that take you through the valleys and mountains of the Pyrenees.

If winter sports are your thing, some premier Alpine and Nordic ski resorts await you in the Girona Pyrenees. And, if you’re into cycling, take your pick and get pedalling: road cycling, MTB routes, cycle tourism along Green Ways, the gravel tracks of the Pirinexus… You’ll have a blast riding around Girona!

If it’s water sports that float your boat, imagine a watery playground of more than 200 km of Mediterranean coastline, complete with 18 marinas and three diving centres. Scuba diving? Sailing? Kayaking? Windsurfing? Water skiing? Kitesurfing? It’s all right here waiting for you.

And if you’re looking for some other form of adventure, the extensive range of experiences on offer includes horse riding, skydiving, hot air ballooning, climbing, via ferrata routes, adventure parks and much more.

Ski resorts

With the arrival of the snow in the Girona Pyrenees, the ski resorts become true pilgrimage sites for winter sports enthusiasts. La Molina, Masella, Vall de Núria and Vallter 2000 offer you miles and miles of alpine skiing and outstanding experiences, all set against a stunning backdrop of natural beauty. The Alp 2500 domain, which links La Molina and Masella, is one of the largest in the Pyrenees, with 145 km of skiable trails.
