In 1992, the United Nations General Assembly declared the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Its aim is to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. In the Girona area, several activities are organised to commemorate this day. Today we will review two of them, to be combined with other inclusive proposals in our territory.
On 28 November, MIFAS is organising in Girona the morning conference “Mujer y discapacidad, vulnerabilidad aumentada” (Women and disability, increased vulnerability). The invisibility of the rights of women with disabilities and their protection from violence are some of the topics to be discussed. There will also be a round table on motherhood and care, the dance show “La diversa” and a visit to the photographic exhibition “Dones diverses” (Diverse women).
You can spend the afternoon exploring the city on the cultural routes offered by the free mobile app Descobrint Girona (Discovering Girona). Two of the routes, the one on urban art at the monar’T festival and the one dedicated to the architect Rafael Masó, are accessible to wheelchair users.

On the Girona Turisme website, enabled with accessible navigation system, you will find all the proposals, as well as a section on accessible tourism.
The Lloret-based collective Som Capaços, an organisation made up of people with intellectual disabilities that organises activities to raise the profile of the group, is organising a festive day to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On 3 December, the Germinal Ros square in Lloret de Mar will be filled with several activities, such as a sensory workshop and a solidarity vermouth.
The activities will end with “Com els pingüins” by Companyia La Bleda, a family show that reflects on walking and knowing how to fall, resilience, effort and survival. And while you’re in Lloret, make the most of the opportunity to explore the many activities on offer at the Capital of Catalan Culture 2023.
