For many centuries La Vall de Bianya was a pass-through place. The Capsacosta Roman road that crossed it was the only way to travel from the plain to the Pyrenees. As a result of all this coming and going, many settled in this area of leafy holm oak, beech and oak forests, of sweeping, fertile plains. And they left their imprint in the form of Romanesque churches, farmhouses and villages. Now it’s your turn to come and soak up history with an excursion on foot, horseback or by bicycle along the Muleteers’ route (Pas dels Traginers), one of the few surviving stretches of the ancient Roman road.
