Vilaür is a small inland town in Alt Empordà. Set in a flat area with crop fields, it’s an ideal place for walks and for soaking up the rural atmosphere. The town’s old quarter preserves its mediaeval charm with narrow streets. The main square can be entered through one of the ancient gateways of the town walls, which today is a sort of bridge-house. Some stretches of the old town walls remain intact, while other stretches have been integrated in the walls of houses from different periods, making Vilaür a very special architectural complex.
