Vilanant, in Alt Empordà, is a sleepy town situated just a short distance away from the city of Figueres. Here you can go on long walks in an area of pine and holm oak forests, of farmhouses and great manor houses that have resisted the passage of time. You can head to the Moros (Moors) tower, as the ruins of Soler castle are popularly known. Along the way, in the middle of the forest and close to the Manol river, you’ll come across the chapel of Sant Jaume dels Verders. And if you walk as far as the district of Coquells you can visit a little architectural gem, the Romanesque church of Sant Salvador
