For some, La Jonquera is a place to pass through; for others it’s a town with shopping and leisure options to suit all tastes. It’s also a place with a very rich cultural heritage, thanks to landmarks such as Requesens castle (a bucolic site that would make a good location for films set in the Middle Ages), the ruins of Rocabertí castle and Romanesque chapels hidden away in the forest. The landscape is another great attraction, encompassing the Albera Natural Area and must-see beauty spots such as Neulós peak (1,257 m), the Fitó waterfall and various monumental trees. And those keen to experience a festive atmosphere in the town will find plenty of gatherings, festivals and fairs taking place throughout the year
