There are those who say that Gran beach is only the kilometre long section between the port and the residential area of Griells, an area where you can find a large free parking area next to the sand. Officially, the Torroella de Montgrí City Council also include the sections of the Griells and la Pletera beaches, totalling 2.3 km, extending to the mouth of the river Ter. Whatever the case, visitors will find all the facilities they could want at this beach, including water sports, a children’s club and amphibious chairs for people with reduced mobility. The view of the Medes Islands is spectacular from this beach of fine sand. Visiting is highly recommended and it’s a great place for scuba-diving.
