It is situated to the north of the Gran beach in Pals, although as they are continuous, it is difficult to discern at what point they are separated. Regardless, the El Grau beach is known as such for the last 300 metres of sand, ending in Les Basses d’en Coll. At the back is a residential area, a campsite and the Platja de Pals golf course and, nearby, the area of rice paddy fields for which the municipality is famous. The beach has coarse sand and can be reached by car, with a parking area nearby in the large open area you come across as soon as you arrive. As with all of this coastal area, it is very open and exposed to the swell and the entry into the water is pretty steep. From here, the Medes Islands seem almost to be within touching distance.
