After some stages where the mountain has been the main protagonist, the section of this fourth day is totally horizontal. We walk along an alluvial plain where three rivers, Muga, Fluvià and Ter, pour their sediments before flowing into the Gulf of Roses. This sedimentation has created a very fertile soil, which the neighbors of the area have used to plant irrigated crops and grazing plots for livestock, draining the shallow waters of ancient lakes, marshes and wetlands. After walking through this humid ecosystem we will have the opportunity to enter the beautiful alleys of Castelló d’Empúries, the former capital of the County of Empúries.
