Molló, in Ripollès, has always been a place of passage. The Coll d’Ares (at an altitude of 1,513 metres) is a route that has been travelled by Celts and Romans alike. On the way back down the valley, no visit would be complete without a stop in the picturesque town of Espinavell, perched on the slopes of Coll Pregon, which looks out over the Costabona and the source of the Ritort river, in the Headwaters of the Rivers Ter and Freser Natural Park. In Molló, discover the beauty of Santa Cecília’s church and bell tower (Cultural Asset of National Interest), a fine example of Catalan Romanesque architecture, as well as Sant Sebastià’s chapel and the Font Vella natural spring. All topped off with a visit to Molló Parc to see animals native to the Pyrenees, such as marmots, otters, chamois or bears.
