With summer weather right around the corner, the Costa Brava is the perfect place to get away and unwind for a few days with family or friends.

It’s more than just its beaches and crystal water coves. This spectacular stretch of the Catalan coast has well-preserved medieval villages, nature activities, and delicious, healthy food. Pure Mediterranean essence

If you’re not already booking a ticket, check out this list of top places on the Costa Brava for tourism and outdoor activities. After months of cold weather and being cooped up at home, it’s time to reconnect with nature and improve our health and wellness.

Let’s start with one of the most northerly and well-known spots on the Costa Brava: Roses. More specifically, Falconera Point, one of the town’s best spots for walking and taking in incredible views, boasting rich natural diversity both on land and at sea. This cape is the southernmost point of the Cap de Creus peninsula and separates Roses‘ two coasts: the Bay of Montjoi and the Canyelles Grosses and Canyelles Petites coves. Don’t tell me you’ve never been! Until you have the chance to get there in person, we invite you to listen to the soundscape created by Edgar Tarrés, which will help you to meditate and feel closer to nature.

Next on our list of places to visit is Lloret de Mar, a perfect and unique blend of seaside vibes and amazing landscapes, boasting everything from rocky outcrops to stunning sandy beaches. The town possesses astounding natural and cultural beauty. Visitors can also go on the Indianos Route to marvel at the various buildings constructed there by the Catalans who returned from the American colonies after amassing their fortunes.

Wander through natural areas, visit the Santa Clotilde Gardens or find your way to secluded coves. There are plenty of ways to do this: on foot, by bicycle or even Nordic walking. If you’re looking for a weekend away to relax and unwind, we have two top choices that are sure to bring you the peace and quiet you need. First is the Azure Hotel, surrounded by beach and nature, which serves excellent local cuisine featuring the area’s most emblematic products. Then, there’s the Sant Pere del Bosc Hotel, an exceptional place to find your inner peace and wellness. The luxury of silence and the sense of disconnection stand out here, forming the perfect equation for the getaway you deserve.

Another way to restore your wellness is through nature and forest therapy. Never heard of it? The Sèlvans Association is made up of individuals who work as a cooperative to bring people into contact with nature through forest bathing. This type of activity offers many benefits thanks to forest aerobiology, mindful breathing, silence and a reconnection with the natural environment through all our senses. If you’ve never tried it, we suggest a forest bath in Can Fornaca, just a short distance from the town of Caldes de Malavella, one of the best forest areas to reconnect with nature on the Selva plain, and near to the town’s thermal wellness facilities. It’s a mixed humid Mediterranean forest made up of downy oak, cork oak and stone pine, with some remarkable specimens of the latter two.

Since we’re talking about natural places, and now that the weather is nice but not too hot, it’s also a good time to visit Aiguamolls de L’Empordà Natural Park, a bird’s paradise in Catalonia. The park is made up of brackish lagoons, freshwater lagoons, flood-meadows and farmland. It’s a protected natural park of great interest to birdwatchers, as well as a fantastic place for photography buffs. But that’s not all! The L’Empordà marshes also offer beautiful hiking trails along flat terrain, making them perfect for anyone who likes to be surrounded by nature and breathe in the sea air. There are different routes to choose from! And of course, don’t forget your binoculars or camera, because the sights and images of this small corner of Girona can be breathtaking.
