Plaça de l'Església, 1, Ordis, Espanya
One of the highlights of the calendar in Ordis is the Barley Festival that takes place in the spring, when the town celebrates the product with which it shares its name (barley is ordi in Catalan). You’ll be surprised by how many things this cereal is used for, apart from beer. Throughout the year you can explore the town’s rich Romanesque heritage in the form of the church of Sant Julià and Santa Basilissa, the chapel of Santa Maria de Pols and the chapel of Sant Nicolau. And if you’re feeling curious, ask about the cobbler of Ordis, a literary character who walked the paths of Empordà, conducting the tramuntana wind as if it were an orchestra.
