The town of Cabanes, in the county of Alt Empordà, is set in the heart of an extensive plain watered by the Muga and Llobregat rivers. As such, this is a very fertile area were farming is the main activity. The town’s inhabitants are known as the potamolls (wet legs) due to the frequent floods that occurred in the past (which is why the town was known as the Mesopotamia of Empordà). The construction of the Boadella reservoir solved this problem and today the town is a great place for enjoying the gentle pace of rural life.
