The name of Vilabertran is closely associated with the monastery of Santa Maria. This historical complex is one of the best preserved mediaeval houses of canons in Catalonia. In fact, the town’s history is intertwined with that of the abbey. But Vilabertran also boasts other striking treasures. Just observe the landscape and you can already imagine some of them: long strolls among market gardens and the cypresses that shelter the crops from the tramuntana wind; the route of the norias that irrigate this fertile land, bringing up the water hidden under the soil; and the famous ‘stuffed apple’, a gastronomic gem of Vilabertran.
