The beaches of Port Bo, d’en Calau and Malaspina form a continuous stretch in front of the town of Calella de Palafrugell with its characteristic vaults by the sea. Each summer the ‘havaneres’ (Cuban sea shanties) festival is held in Calella, in which the beach is turned into a spectacular auditorium where you can listen to the songs that one can imagine sailors singing by the sea. Rocky reefs between the sand and the sea create different environments on this beach, which is about 190 metres long and 15 metres wide. The boats beached on the shore contribute to the picture-postcard image that is well-known to lovers of the Costa Brava. It is easy to get there on foot and by car, moreover the tourist bus created by the Palafrugell Town Council (Julivia) also stops here, and goes past some of the most interesting parts of the town.
