Plaça de l'Ajuntament, Torroella de Fluvià, Espanya
In the Força neighbourhood of Torroella de Fluvià, the mediaeval past of the small rural towns of Alt Empordà is still palpable. Along the narrow streets you can observe the remains of the old walls and the towers that protected the town. Your journey to feudal times begins as you pass underneath Can Sopa bridge, which crosses the central street in this district. If you wish to travel back even further in time, make your way to the Sant Tomàs neighbourhood and walk along part of the camí ral (royal way) used by the Romans. You can also quench your thirst at the Mas Palol spring and enter the natural caves where the water still gushes out. A refreshing way to end your walk.
