There are towns in Alt Empordà that draw in visitors from the counties of Girona with their quiet charm. Borrassà is one of them, an unassuming town set in the heart of the Empordà plain, its outstanding landmark being the tall bell tower of the parish church of Sant Andreu, which is well worth a visit. In ancient times Borrassà was under the strict dominion of the Priory of Lladó and you might hear a popular saying that goes as follows: “Borrassà seria bo si no fos el prior de Lladó” (“Borrassà would be good if it wasn’t for the Prior of Lladó”). Don’t worry, he hasn’t been seen in these parts for centuries!
