Carretera de Juià, 48, 17460 Celrà, Espanya
Celrà, in Gironès, is a land of castles, a land of water, a land of riverside forests and a land of iron. The mediaeval enclosure of La Sagrera, crowned by the bell tower of Sant Feliu, takes you back to the Middle Ages, while the three castles (of Celrà, Barbavella and Palagret) hark back to times when feuds raged between different families. All of this history is surrounded by streams, springs and forests of black poplars, holm oaks and willows. The walk to the island of Salzes (Willows) is not to be missed. Nature puts on an amazing show of colours and contrasts, whether in summer or winter. And if you still have enough time, pay a visit to the iron mines of La Victòria or El Nen Jesús.
