Plaça de l'Ajuntament, 2, Garrigàs, Espanya
The municipality of Garrigàs encompasses several little towns: Garrigàs itself, Arenys d’Empordà, Ermedàs, Tonyà and Vilajoan. That makes for a long list of places of interest. Take note of just a few: the castle of Arenys and the castle of Vilajoan, both declared Sites of National Interest; Garrigàs town centre, with its ancient narrow streets and porches; or the district surrounding the church in Arenys d’Empordà, a set of dwellings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The architectural heritage is just as rich as the local gastronomy, so typical of Alt Empordà. Discover it by tasting the stewed duck Empordà style or the sweet botifarra (sausage).
