Maritime history and local gastronomy at the Espai de Peix
At the Fishing Museum – Espai del Peix in Palamós, you’ll be able to discover the local maritime history and food and wine tradition. You can also take part in a guided tour of the fish auction to learn how the seafood products are sold and how the sector is organised, in what makes a fun and educational visit for all ages. Another suggestion for pampering your senses and palates would be to take part in a seafood cooking workshop, that uses traditional recipes from the local area.

Nature by “burricleta” in the Baix Empordà
Nature also plays a central role in this type of holiday. A tour by “burricleta” (a rural-style e-bike) around Palau-Sator in the Baix Empordà and other local medieval villages is the perfect excuse to explore idyllic vineyard landscapes, rice paddies, and apple and olive groves that are ideal for enjoying a quiet and relaxing ride out, either alone or in company. This activity not only allows you to savour the landscape, but also to connect with the agricultural history of the region at the relaxed pace of the “burricleta” – the electric bike suitable for different physical abilities that will make exploring more fun.

Local culture and anchovies at the MASLE Museum
Culture also has its own place in this proposal. Nestled between the beaches, coves and cliffs of the town of L’Escala, you can enjoy a visit to the Anchovy and Salt Museum (MASLE) to immerse yourself in a history, heritage and unique fishing tradition that spans from the 16th century through to the present day. In addition, you will also be able to learn about the exquisite salted anchovy – a Greco-Roman legacy which over the centuries has formed the town’s lifeblood and made the L’Escala anchovy famous the world over.
Through these proposals, the Costa Brava offers seniors the chance to enjoy its culture, nature and gastronomy at any time of the year, all while spending quality time alone, as a couple or with family.
