Cultural and sports tourism
In the Girona Pyrenees, in the region of La Cerdanya, you can enjoy cultural tourism, discovering the key features of its Romanesque churches, or sports tourism, practising a broad range of mountain sports. In winter, skiing is the number 1 sport. And in summer, people go hiking and cycling or handbiking. The place to go for inclusive tourism options is the Adapted Sport Centre at La Molina, run by the Play & Train association. This centre offers recreational or competitive sports activities for disabled people and their families.
The region’s main town, Puigcerdà, has created a number of barrier-free cultural routes and spaces. For example, the town’s artificial lake or the Schierbeck park.

Traditions and spiritual seclusion
The region of El Ripollès invites you to discover a land of pilgrimage, repose and tradition in a mountain valley almost 2,000 metres above sea level: the Santuari de la Mare de Déu de Núria. The sanctuary has a lift to make access easier for people in wheelchairs. The trains on the rack railway, which is the only way to get to the Valley of Núria by vehicle, also have disabled access. The Valley has a free audioguide. The region’s main town, Ripoll, is known as the birthplace of Catalonia. If you want to learn more about its history, then a visit to the Ethnographic Museum is a must.
Volcanic spectacle
More than forty volcanic cones await you at La Garrotxa. Together, they make up the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. There are different options for visiting this natural area. The park has joelette chairs which are used by the guides to take people with reduced mobility on the routes. Natura i màgia offers a number of inclusive activities to discover the park.
If cycling is more your thing, the Bicycles Logistics Centre at Les Preses offers different options, from handbikes to tandems, to explore the region’s landscapes. In the region’s chief town, Olot, you will find the Espai Cràter, with adapted accesses and spaces. And throughout the region, you can visit medieval villages that still preserve vestiges of their Jewish legacy. Oh, by the way. You can discover all this from the air as well!
