A towel, a book or some good company are all you need to spend a while at this selection of beaches that, for many reasons, will surprise you.
Mar Menuda Beach. Located in Tossa de Mar, this beach is also known as Platja de la Palma. It is easily accessible by private vehicle and is a charming beach: secluded, quiet, surrounded by vegetation and with large rocks standing in the sea. One of them has been crowned by a pine tree that has grown there and become an iconic image over the years.
Sa Somera Beach. This lovely beach is in Lloret de Mar and is on the other side of the Club Nàutic Cala Canyelles marina, making it easy to access. The blue, green and brown colours and the ebb and flow of the waves will tempt you to stay here for as long as you can.
Es Castell Cove. We are fortunate to be able to say that this is still a wide, unspoilt beach with fine sand and transparent waters, thanks to the efforts of local people which ended in a referendum that saved this space from being heavily developed in 1992.

Tamariu Beach. Sometimes what you really fancy is a comfortable beach near the hotel or the restaurant in the small town where you are staying. Tamariu fits the bill perfectly: with low buildings all painted white beside a pleasant, quiet beach.
Fonda Beach. Heading north you’ll reach the southern edge of the Cape of Begur. Among the many beaches here, there is one with a long set of steps that lead to Begur’s Fonda beach. Natural and unspoilt, the beach is 100 metres long with dark sand and stones to lie on and enjoy the surrounding mountains, rocks and pine trees. And, of course, the sea.
Golfet Beach. This beach is totally different, with its spectacular clear waters and pale sand at the base of a small cliff. It can only be reached on foot from the coastal path, or, of course, by sea.

Pals and Illa Roja Beach. Another long beach where you can enjoy a leisurely, almost endless, stroll along the shoreline is this one in Pals. This 3-kilometre-long beach has fine sand and open waters. Walking towards the south, almost hidden from view, you can access a couple of very popular coves. One of these is Illa Roja, an exuberant gift of nature that owes its name to the immense reddish rock that presides over the beach.
Muscleres Beach. This is one of the beaches in the municipality of L’Escala and it is located just in front of the Greco-Roman ruins of Empúries. Easy to access on foot or by car, here you will find almost 500 metres of fine sandy beach, clean transparent waters and wonderful views of the Gulf of Roses and Cape Norfeu.
Sant Pere Pescador Beach. This dune covered beach seems to go on forever. In fact, at over 6 kilometres long it is the longest beach in the Bay of Roses: it runs from the mouth of the Vell river in Sant Martí d’Empúries all the way to the mouth of the Fluvià river. There are various access points and it is the perfect spot for enjoying wind-powered water sports.

Cros Beach. Slightly north of the town of Llançà is an area known as Grifeu. And it is here that you will find one of the town’s most popular beaches: Cros beach. This dark coloured pebbly beach offers relaxing views of the coast.
Garbet Beach. In a landscape shaped by the tramuntana wind and next to the main road, this fabulous beach, almost half a kilometre long, is ideal for those looking for sand to sunbathe on and those who prefer rock pools to observe the underwater life.
