The beach of Rubina is also known locally as the wild beach. And with good reason. It has been preserved from urban development and has no buildings in the immediate vicinity, unlike its neighbours of Santa Margarita and Empuriabrava. Located between the entrances to the marinas of these two developments, this sandy beach is surrounded by dunes, hollows and lagoon systems typical of marsh areas. It is the only beach in Castelló d’Empúries on which dogs and kitesurfing are allowed and, even then, just at the end closest to Santa Margarida. To get there by car you should go around the gyratory system on the Roses road just after the Empuriabrava airfield. There is easy parking just next to the beach. Once you are there, it is important to access the beach using the marked points, taking care not to damage the dunes that are being regenerated. It shouldn’t be forgotten that this is an area of the Aiguamolls de l’ Empordà Natural Park.
