We suggest four types of activities to enjoy the Girona Pyrenees, a climatic refuge with fascinating natural places where you can cool off, and have fun and learn while enjoying its magic and serenity.
Excursions and active tourism allow you to discover the vast natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage of the territory in an exciting way. From following the greenways on foot or by bike with a backpack, going down large water slides while canyoning, flying in a balloon over La Garrotxa’s volcanoes or recognising the sound of frogs at night in the forest, the options for fun and adrenaline-based activities in the Girona Pyrenees are endless and perfect to share with friends and family.

Excursions and active tourism
Grab your backpack and discover the extensive natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage of the territory, crossing greenways, enjoying a route through the paths of La Cerdanya’s trails or experiencing multiple adventures, such as flying over the tree-covered volcanoes in La Garrotxa. They are perfect options for Active tourism, which you can do as a skiing holiday in winter or cycling, hiking, ecotourism and multi-adventure activities throughout the year. If you are thinking about planning your new route through the Pyrenees, with Wikiloc it will be much easier.

Natural Parks, an authentic oasis of nature
Of the eight Natural Parks of the area, half are located in the Girona Pyrenees: the Albera Natural Site, the Capçaleres del Ter i el Freser Natural Park, the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park and the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. They are spaces of captivating beauty, most of which are part of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, which comes from a commitment to the sustainability of our territory. In all of them you can take part in activities at any time of the year discovering its wildlife, as well as the unique landscape of the volcanoes or the thick beech forests, among other wonders that allow you to enjoy this oasis of nature, health and well-being.

Guided canyoning
Canyoning is an exciting and fun activity that allows you to explore nature from within, combining abseiling, jumping and natural slides. An adrenaline-filled, fun experience that you can practise in different places in the Pyrenees, in the Riera de Osor, the fastest flowing stream in the Guilleries that flows into the Ter River. Entertaining and low in difficulty, it is ideal to enjoy with friends or family. And for those who want to level up, we recommend the Estrets del Freser ravine, very close to the Vall de Núria, Queralbs and Ribes de Freser, in the Ripollès region, in the heart of the Eastern Pyrenees, with slides and jumps of up to eight metres (which are optional) and a ten-metre abseil, in the middle of the high mountains.

Nighttime experiences
When we visit the humid areas of the forest at night, many of us often sense noises and smells and see shadows that we don’t recognise and that make us feel scared. The best way to overcome this fear of the unknown is to experience something new, discovering the wildlife at night, together with La Tosca: Environmental, education and tourism services. There is a route where you can get to know the animals of the darkness in their own habitat, to learn to recognise their shadows, sounds and flights, through a short flat trail, discovering the wildlife of humid environments.
If, instead of observing the world in the open, you prefer to do so protected by a sacred space, such as the Church of Sant Miquel de Pineda, we highly recommend an astronomy workshop. The experience includes one night for two people with breakfast, dinner and a workshop for astronomical observation with a high-end telescope, to experience an authentic night under a blanket, watching the stars.
